How to replace the inner tube on a bicycle
The most common breakdowns are flat tires and other problems associated with a flat tire. Knowing how to fix a flat tire is an important skill that any cyclist, even a beginner, should have. With proper skill, it can take a few minutes.
The repair will require removing the tire and completely deflating the tube. You should then perform an external inspection of the wheel to look for the puncture point. This could be a glass, nail, self-tapping screw, wire, or other sharp object. Inspect the entire circumference of the wheel, as there may be multiple punctures. Make marks at the suspected puncture points. Here are some tips for repairing an inner tube. In order not to damage the tube when removing the tire, we recommend using a special tool - tire lever.
Use the second lever to remove one side of the tire from the rim. Carefully remove the tube so as not to damage the valve. At the same time, if possible, transfer the marks of possible punctures to the tube itself. Then remove the tire completely from the rim. After removing the tire, carefully inspect the tire from the outside and inside to look for any remaining objects that caused the puncture.
It is not a problem if the initial inspection does not reveal the puncture points. Inflate the camera. Then either by visual and auditory method, or with the help of soap solution, or with the help of a container with water, find the puncture points. Mark them. Dry the camera before starting the repair. Next, the standard procedure for gluing two rubber surfaces is followed.
Find a suitable size patch in the repair kit. For better adhesion, clean the puncture with sandpaper. Clean the surface from the remnants of stripping. If there is some gasoline, then degrease the surface. If there is no gasoline with you, we try not to touch the place with clean hands after sanding, and even more so with dirty hands. Apply to the prepared surface of the camera glue larger than the patch by 5-8 mm on each side. Let the glue dry. Remove the foil from the patch and press it to the repair area. Smooth the patch from the center to the edges of the patch. Apply pressure to the glue area for 3-5 minutes. The camera is repaired. Now we need to put everything back on the wheel. Pump up the tube a little bit, and put it into the tire. Start putting it on the rim strictly from the opposite side of the valve. Keep the inner edges of the tire with the bead core in the center of the rim where there is a groove.
This recess will allow you to put the tire in place without resorting to a tool. A prerequisite is that the last centimeters should be worn on the valve. If, nevertheless, the efforts of the hands are not enough, then we resort to the help of mounting blades, just make sure not to damage the inner tube.
